Learning ways to cope with the struggles is key. I won’t pretend it’s easy, but when you learn to see the good in every situation, your life turns around.

So how do you train your mind to see the good?

Well, I won’t pretend it’s easy… but when you practice simple practices such as meditation, affirmations and daily gratitude, your mind automatically will start to find the good. We truly do create our own happiness by how we deal with the struggles. Life if full of them, so you best find ways to find the good in them.

Always find the good.. because there ALWAYS is good

Here I am on this magical yoga retreat and injured my ankle on day 2 in paradise. Of course it sucks, there’s no way around that but I am now given a choice, do I let this ruin my entire trip or do I find the good. Thanks to all my daily practices, I can easily see the good.

I have water therapy for my sprain right here at the hotel. I have the most beautiful scenery to do legs up against wall. I am relaxed. I am with amazing people. There will always be bad.. find the rainbow in your storm. It becomes easier to ride out the storm when they do arise.

Simple practices to find your happiness

Start and end your day with a book of gratitude. Each day first thing in the morning and last thing at night, write 5 things you are grateful for. There is ALWAYS something to be grateful for!

Listen to daily affirmations, for as long as you need to till you feel better. They work. What we tell our subconscious our body and mind believe. Program your subconscious to see the good and you will.

Meditate. We have so much running around our mind each day.. give your mind some quiet time to receive messages and ideas on how to deal with situations that arise. When you calm your mind in meditation answers just start coming to you.

We have become so programmed to immediately turn to conventional forms of medication, but each time we use conventional, it comes with side effects. ALWAYS. When Bella was 12 years old her arthritis became so severe she could not walk. I was talked into giving her conventional meds, people made me feel it would be cruel of me not to… so I caved. Don’t be so quick to jump…

People are conditioned to jump to conventional meds so quickly thinking that anything else is cruel, when the opposite is true. I loaded up on his nutrition, he’s only a year old.. if his joints and bones aren’t even fully grown so I was going to use nutrition to help strengthen them as they grow.

What we think of we attract

Have you ever noticed when one thing goes wrong it feels like everything goes wrong? It’s never just one thing, is it? More always seems to have a way of following doesn’t it?

That’s because what we think of we attract.

So often when something goes wrong, we let it consume us. Why me? You replay it over and over again.. replaying it in your head, telling it to anyone willing to listen.

We are all guilty of it. No wonder more chaos always follows. What we focus on we attract more of, good or bad.

Why me??

I was a why me person, to the extreme. Everything always happened to me, I mean everything.. and I was more than eager to share with anyone that would listen how everything always goes wrong for me.. no wonder why more bad always followed.

My mental health kept declining, I was constantly diagnosed with new illness’, if it could go wrong, it did go wrong. I was a train wreck.

I had to flip the scrip. It was challenging at first, I mean when bad happens how can you not think about it?? By finding the good. There is ALWAYS something to smile about.

Attract more good

By having an attitude of gratitude, we are focusing on the good things happening throughout the day.. just like when something goes bad more bad follows, when you focus on good more good follows.

There are ALWAYS blessings in your day. Even on the worst day, you can be grateful the day is over and you get to start a new day tomorrow.

Each day is filled with blessings.

Soon my life started to turn around. My train wreck of a life became a life filled with blessings.

Energy attracts like energy

Energy is real. Energy attracting more of the same energy is real. It doesn’t matter your belief.

We may each call it something differently but it’s all the same core belief. We learn this thru neuroscience, we believe this is spirituality, even religion teaches us the same.

The core of each is the same.. so be mindful of what you focus your energy on. Count your blessings. Resist the urge to keep repeating how horrible a situation is.. it’s hard, our human nature wants sympathy & understanding of how upset we are. Resist… and watch your life change.

Turn it around

I have “gratitude alarms” set on my phone, each day more than once a day. No matter what is going on in my day, I stop and think what I have to be grateful for. I keep listing things until I feel myself smile. It’s not just about listing it, it’s FEELING THE GRATITUDE. Remember, it’s energy that attracts, so you want to FEEL the energy of feeling grateful and blessed.

Let the blessings flow

Practice having an attitude of gratitude., at first it’s challenging… but soon your brain will just automatically start seeing the good in everything.

The blessings will start flowing it. People will start looking at you thinking how “lucky” you are.. you will feel a warmth within yourself because you can’t believe how blessed you are…

and it all started from having an attitude of gratitude. #blessed

Steps

I had been ill for so long that it seemed my entire body was shutting down on me, not to mention what a toll it took on my mind.

I would spend weeks at a time in bed from depression, only leaving my home in middle of night to avoid people, my anxiety was so bad.. in and out of the hospital monthly each time with a new disEASE I was diagnosed with. I needed to do something…

Be mindful

Your mind believes what you tell it. The only thing standing in the way of achieving your dreams is yourself. So often we tell ourselves “I can’t”. We tell ourselves this so often, for so long that our mind actually believes it and makes our reality.

We are all guilty of it.. I have told myself for so long, I’m a night person, I am NOT a morning person” no matter how hard I tried I could never wake up in the morning. I truly thought there was no hope.

Change the script

I decided to change the script. I started falling asleep to “I am” sleep meditations which included, “I am a morning person”. I started saying “I am a morning person, I am eager to start each day!”

I say it to myself in the mirror. I write it in my affirmations book each day.. a few months later I actually started waking up earlier! I could hardly believe it!! Who is this person waking up so early??

There’s something to this “I am” affirmations I kept hearing so much about!

All this time, all I needed to do was change my inner dialogue. Who knew?? Lol now I’m popping up out of bed 7am most days and on days I don’t get up till 8am, I feel I slept the day awake. I literally open my eyes eager to start the day, just as I tell myself.

Affirmations

“I am” are the most powerful words we can say. What we say after “I am” our mind believes.. what our mind believes we create.

Practice affirmations each day.

Write it in your book. Say it in the mirror. Say it throughout the day. Say it so much that you actually believe it!

When you start believing the affirmations you say, you will achieve it.

Believing is the trick. Believe in yourself and you will create the life you dream of.

Food is medicine

Did you know that grapefruit is so powerful at lowering your blood pressure naturally, that it can not be taken while on conventional medicine or your BP will go too low… that’s how incredible this simple fruit is at lowering it!

Finding balance

While nutrition is absolutely important finding balance is key. You can eat all the right foods, but if your life is too stressful and you’re not finding outlets to calm your body.. your body will most likely eventually become ill.

We need to find just a few minutes a day to find peace, it is a form of self love.

Take a walk in the park, exercise, go for a hike, yoga, or simply dance it out. Get your body moving, release that stress.

Meditate!!!

I can not stress enough how important it is to meditate each day. Each day we are faced with so many new challenges, meditating will help to lower your blood pressure is to simply meditate.

Set 10-20 minutes aside each day and focus on your breath. If sitting still in a room is too difficult, get lost in nature.

Nature is the easiest way to meditate. It heals us because we ARE NATURE. Focus on the sounds of the birds, feel the breeze, listen to the swaying of the trees, the water running over rocks… get lost in these sounds, the smells around you, what you feel… getting lost in nature will lower your blood pressure naturally.

Ultimately it’s finding balance of the mind body & soul that brings us overall health and happiness.

Your mind needs rest

Meditation will help you make sense of your day and even your life.. it’s the one thing that will make every aspect of your day better, yet the one thing that most people fail to do.

Our day to day life is often so stressful and so chaotic, our mind needs rest.

Time to refocus. It is when we allow our mind to clear that we often get the best answers to life.

Some call it religion, others spirituality and some science. The one thing they all tell us, is our mind does its best healing when we are able to reach delta state.

Nature heals us

Nature heals us because we ARE nature. We are made up of the same particles as the stars, that is why when we connect to nature we feel so at peace.

Taking the time to reconnect with source energy should be part of your daily activity. Just 20 minutes a day will make dramatic changes in your life.

One of my favorite sayings is “you should sit in meditation for 20 minutes a day, unless you’re busy then you should sit an hour”. Once you start meditating you realize how true that is..

Meditation makes sense of the chaos in our daily life. When life is so crazy and I can’t even figure out what to do next. I sit and meditate. Just 10 minutes. When I’m done, things just fall into place. I realize what to do first, what can wait. Meditation helps me focus and realize in what order I should do things. It all makes sense after calming my mind.

Make meditation easy with nature

When you hear meditation most think sit still in a quiet room & clear mind, while that’s ideal, it’s not always so easy for many.. so try other forms of meditation.

Losing yourself to the sounds of nature is meditation.

Sit or walk thru nature..

Listen

Feel

Listen to the sounds the birds make. Feel the breeze and listen to the sounds the trees make. Do you hear running water? Listen to the sounds of the water running over rocks.

When you stop and listen to the sounds of nature, feel the earth beneath your feet, you are reaching the delta state needed for meditation and healing.

When you reach those delta states each day, everything else falls into place. Meditation should be a daily part of each persons life.

Finding balance in your mind body & soul will help you find peace and happiness.. meditation is a key part in finding that balance.

What better reminder that life is about finding balance than balanced rock!

I had heard for many years how finding balance between mind, body & spirit it key.. but truthfully that all just sounded like a myth at the time. How does one even go about balancing the three?

Where to start

Start with what is most “off balance”. With me, that meant my health. My health had completely diminished in what felt like overnight. My life went from photo shoots to hospital beds in the blink of an eye.

Each new pill I was prescribed came with a new list of symptoms, which of course was “fixed” with yet another pill.

So I started by taking my health back!

Body

First, I switched from conventional antibiotics to natural ones. I started to heal my gut flora.. without a healthy gut the rest of the body & mind doesn’t get the nutrients it needs to function properly.

As I lay in bed, week after week from depression or several more weeks in the hospital not knowing when or if I would make it out this time, it gave me a lot of time to think.

My thoughts were not, I wish I had put more time in the office, I wish I bought more designer outfits.. like most, my regrets were I wish I had experienced this life to the fullest…. Traveled more, gone after my passions, just had fun!

Most have the same realization as they near the end of their life. They wish they had taken more chances and just done more instead of playing it so “safe”.

My illness was my blessing

By the time most people make this realization, it’s too late, they are already nearing the end of their life. But for me? For me, I got a second chance and I will never waste it again.

I know what it’s like having your health taken away from you overnight, what it’s like to feel like this life is just wasted. This is my second chance and I AM living it to the fullest.

I started going on yearly international yoga retreats, I planned it even before I was employed, it came together.. I move to new states every few years just for the experience, I just completed a coast to coast road trip, by myself. It was beyond amazing!!! Exhilarating, freeing & empowering!

These were things that were just dreams as I lay in that hospital bed day after day.

Once I learned to heal my mind & body naturally, thru the practices I share, I now make sure to live it to the fullest each and every day!!

Don’t wait until it’s too late..

We are each given countless things that we truly enjoy doing in life. These passions, joys… is the universe letting you know the path you are meant to be following. When you follow the things that you love and that make you happy, the rest falls into place.

Don’t wait until your health is taken from you, this life is beautiful if you let it be… if you don’t know where to start, start with what you are naturally drawn to, what makes you happy, what do you enjoy? What brings you joy will lead you to your path.

The rest will follow and align for you as long as you follow what brings you happiness. I call it universe, but you can call it whatever you prefer.. the universe gave each of us unique passions, unique things that make us happy so that we can follow it and live this life to the fullest.

Watch things align…

I’m proof and I’m surrounded by many others that live their life to the fullest each day. When you follow what makes you happy, the rest aligns. You don’t have to know how or when it’s going to happen, just know it WILL happen. The universe has your back always!

Don’t…

I got a second chance, not everyone gets that. I realize how blessed I am to have been given this chance.

Don’t wait.

Don’t waste this life.

When Figgy started having seizures & joint problems in January, I knew what I needed to do NUTRITION!

On my road trip, I was surrounded by such beauty.. but instead of taking it all in I found myself on repeat mode replaying how someone did me so wrong & how could I get them.

Even if I get that person back, it’s depriving me of hours & days of my own happiness, for what??

Each new symptom required a new pill to “fix” the new problem…

My life consisted of weekly doctor appointments, hospital beds & being stuck in bed for weeks at a time due to debilitating depression & anxiety.. how did this happen?? How did my life become this?? It started with something as simple as antibiotics each time I got sick, but I didn’t know that then.. I was such an advocate for medication, the thought that that was the very thing breaking down my body never occurred to me.

When I heard the words I would be in a wheelchair within 3 months, I knew I had to do something, I was only in my 30s

My mom had studied at integrative nutrition with the dream of healing her sick child, me… my depression had become so severe doctors told me I would need to check myself in a living facility for mentally ill.

I felt defeated. As I sat in the car signing the papers, my mom pleaded with me to please try natural remedies. She said, I gave doctors years of my life trying to find the right cocktail, please let’s just try this first.. See, I was the biggest advocate for medicine. “Doctor’s wouldn’t prescribe it if I didn’t really need it”, “my mind don’t work right, it doesn’t work like others”, “my mind is my enemy, it’s broke”, “if I’m this bad on meds imagine off?!” “Natural remedies may work for other people, but not me, my mind illness is too severe” were words that flowed off my tongue constantly.

So we gave it a shot.. we started detoxing my body. Each time we take antibiotics it kills our good bacteria.. all that medication, processed food & other toxins were keeping my body from functioning properly.

Next we needed to build up my gut flora. Did you know, 70% of our serotonin is produced in our gut, that’s the happy hormone. No wonder my depression was so severe I would take antibiotics more times than I could count! Without a healthy gut my body was also not producing enough GABA, the primary neurotransmitter that helps keep us calm, no wonder I was having daily panic attacks!

As I worked on my gut & switched to a plant based diet, my disEASEs just disappeared.. I was beyond amazed. How can such chronic illness’ such an ulcerative colitis, fibromyalgia, chronic migraines & even sleep disorders just disappear?? But they did.. it all started with healing my gut flora.

I did things in stages, once my gut was healed then I could work on healing my mind.

I was lead to believe for so long my mind was my enemy because I had a chemical imbalance.. why was I never told this could be healed thru nutrition??

I started this health journey 6 years ago.. I don’t get sick anymore. I used to have flu, strep & bronchitis several times a year, now I don’t get sick.. I did get Covid, my body slept & fought it off.. other than that ZERO illness!

It is now over 4 years since I stopped taking the 7 meds a day for my mental depression, anxiety, ADHD & manic depressive… I haven’t had a single depression episode nor a single panic attack.
